Start the Summer Right
June, 1st: BBYC and Ballena Isle Marina will host the Event of the Year: a “one stop shopping” event, to update safety, environmental and legal preparations for you and your boat.
Are your fire extinguishers up to date? Inspection is required annually … Best Equipment will have a mobile unit at the Marina from 10am til noon for inspection, recharge drop-offs, and sales. They will also keep you current on any recalls.
Wonder what would happen if the Coasties boarded your boat? Sign up for a free courtesy inspection from the US Power Squadron. Same checklist, without the citations. Be ready!
10:00am – 11:30am Vivian Matuk – California Division of Boating and Waterways. Clean Boating regulations, quiz and practical goodie giveaways (and a good lead-up to the BBYC/BIM Coastal Cleanup Day coming up September 21 2019).
12:00 – 2:00 pm Lu Abel – US Power Squadron. “Partner in Command”. Know what to do when your more experienced boating partner becomes incapacitated? Better to know it and not need it, than the other way around. We’ll start with the radio …
2:30 – 4:30 CPR/First Aid – things have changed since I last certified, while a sailing instructor, in 2000. How time flies. In a recent show of hands I realized that I didn’t want to depend on 85% of the other folks in the room any more than they wanted to depend on me. You?
Light Refreshments will be available throughout the day, and lunch will be available for a nominal fee.
This day will be crazy with synergy – BBYC will hold an Open House all day, with a Membership Dinner at 7pm. After dinner speaker will be Mike Wang of Mike’s Paddle on “Circumnavigation of SF Bay on a Paddleboard”. What a way to finish up!
